Rebels Trend Upward Under Freeze

Ole Miss cruised by Presbyterian 48-0 and improved to 8-2 on Saturday. As the Rebels head into their last open date of the season, let's not cruise by that win total. In moving to eight wins, Ole Miss has already improved upon its 7-5 mark from last season. The Rebels finished the regular season 6-6 in 2012.

Hugh Freeze's first three teams have showed steady improvement. With two games yet to play there's still the chance this season could spike the trend further upward.

With a relatively young roster, there's no reason to think next year won't be even better.

Ole Miss is ranked 10th in the current AP Poll. That's probably close to where the Rebels will be on Tuesday when the latest College Football Playoff ranking are released.

It'll take a wild November for Ole Miss to find its way to the top of SEC West of the Top 4, but I've seen too many wild Novembers to count the Rebels out just yet.

That said, huge wins by Ohio State and Baylor hurt Ole Miss' chances in the College Football Playoff hunt. The Buckeyes and Bears destroyed Michigan State and Oklahoma, respectively. With only one loss apiece, and convincing wins over Top 15 opponents, don't be surprised if those teams jump Ole Miss in the CFB rankings just as they did in the AP rankings.
