Rebels Look to Rest, Move Up

Ole Miss could shoot up in the rankings with a win over Presbyterian today. A victory would move the Rebels to 8-2, but it's not the win over the Blue Hose that will help Ole Miss in the polls. It's the fact that most of the teams ranked ahead of No. 11 Ole Miss play a ranked opponent today. Some of those teams will surely lose. If the Rebels take care of their own business they will almost certainly move back into the Top 10.

With an open date next week Presbyterian comes at the perfect time for Ole Miss. The Rebels should be able to rest their injured and get well over these next two weekends, moving into the critical last two games over Arkansas and Mississippi State with the chance to end this season on a very high note.

It's a beautiful day to enjoy some great college football! Almost every game could affects Ole Miss in some way. With the Oregon game not kicking off until 9 p.m., we'll be able to cheer for teams that could help the Rebels deep into the night.

No. 17 Utah over No. 4 Oregon. The Ducks already have a loss. A loss to Utah would give Oregon a 2nd loss and probably drop the Ducks below Ole Miss.

No. 16 LSU over No. 5 Alabama. Two losses would likely drop the Crimson Tide below the Rebels. We'll cheer for Alabama to beat Mississippi State and Auburn later. If that happens Ole Miss could find its way to the top of the SEC West. But tonight... Geaux Tigers.

No. 6 TCU vs. No. 7 Kansas State. One of these teams will lose. The loser will have a 2nd loss and likely drop below Ole Miss. Pull for Kansas State. If TCU wins this one, the Horned Frogs will likely win out, and we don't want that. Whereas if the Wildcats win they still must play West Virginia and Baylor. It's unlikely Snyder's club could beat both those teams. Today I'm pulling for Kansas State.

No. 14 Ohio State over No. 8 Michigan State. The Spartans already have a loss to Oregon. A 2nd loss would end their playoff chances thanks to the weak Big Ten strength of schedule. Tonight....you're a Buckeye.

No. 9 Arizona State over No. 10 Notre Dame. A loss by either team is fine really, but Arizona State has a much better chance to win out than Notre Dame. It might be better for Ole Miss if the Fighting Irish win this one, and then we'll hope for a Notre Dame loss to Louisville or USC at the end of the season.
