As it turns out Louisiana-Lafayette wasn't much of an opponent for Ole Miss.
The Rebels blew the Ragin Cajuns out 56-15 in front of 60,000+ navy-clad fans on an extraordinarily cool September afternoon inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Wallace completed 14 consecutive passes to start the game before wisely overthrowing a well-covered receiver in the 2nd quarter. The senior quarterback finished 23 of 28 for 316 yards and 4 TD's before Freeze pulled him early in the 3rd quarter.
The game was never in doubt from start to finish.
He may not let his team know it, but Hugh Freeze must be pleased. The Rebels are steadily improving each and every time they take the field. The offensive line didn't struggle with false start penalties. The running game looked a little better as Ole Miss rushed for 214 yards, but keep in mind that 137 of those yards came on a pair of long touchdown runs by I'Tavius Mathers and Jaylen Walton.
But the thing is, with the way Bo Wallace is seeing the field and connecting with his receivers, running hardly seems necessary. He's looking positively spectacular. With Wallace orchestrating this offense running is a bonus, a chance for Wallace to give his shoulder a play off or work the offensive line, but it's hardly necessary. Rushing wasn't needed against Boise State, Vanderbilt or Louisiana-Lafayette, but how critical will a solid rushing game be against Alabama, Auburn and Texas A&M?
Good question, and one we won't really know the answer to until the games get played.
For now, Freeze seems content to use his experienced senior quarterback to set the Ole Miss record books on fire, and boy is it fun to watch.
Now Ole Miss rests, and enjoys a bye week before Memphis. All the bumps and bruises get time to heal. Coaches get extra time to examine film, critique the young guys and sharpen the upperclassmen. The Rebel Rocket Ship is still in full ascent, and Freeze's post game comments indicate that he wants it to go well into the upper stratosphere.
"Even though you may be the better football team on a given day, you still have to execute and do the things that will make you one of the top-tier teams in the country," Freeze said.
More Sabanesque words have never been spoken by Freeze. That should tell you something.
Ole Miss is 3-0, about to move up another spot or two in the rankings, ever closer to that coveted Top 10, and the future looks bright - very bright indeed.
And that, my friends, is a good Saturday.
Superlatives:
-Wallace (see above) posted his 3rd consecutive 300-yard passing game. His 10 career 300-yard passing games ties the record held by Eli Manning. After today's game, Wallace now sits alone in 2nd place for career touchdowns with 49, moving ahead of Jevan Snead.
-Vince Sanders had a career best 125 yards receiving on 8 catches and two touchdowns.
-Senquez Golson had two interceptions, one of which he returned for a pick six. It was the first time since 2009 that Ole Miss had consecutive games with a pick six. Cliff Coleman had a pick six last week.
-I'Tavius Mathers scored on a 56-yard run.
-Not to be outdone, Jaylen Walton ran for a 71-yard TD.
-The Ole Miss defense force four turnovers, and held UL-L to just 322 total yards.
-The Rebels have allowed just two touchdowns in three games.
