The Big Hits that Broke it Open

Austin Anderson and Sikes Orvis hit a pair of home runs in the fourth inning to give Ole Miss a 3-1 lead over Louisiana-Lafayette. While there was far more scoring in the 10-4 game, it's fair to say Anderson and Orvis set the tone. The Ragin Cajun pitching staff started to fall apart soon after, and their depleted bullpen was no match for the bat-wielding Rebels.
Holt Perdzock, pinch hitting in the 9th, belted a 2-RBI double deep into the right field corner and a fielding error as the ball bounced around added a 3rd run as Perdzock advanced all the way to 3rd. The entire 3-run episode gave Ole Miss a 9-4 lead.
Auston Bousfield stretched a 4-3 lead to 5-3 with an RBI double in the 6th.

There was plenty of good defense, too.

Will Allen caught a perfect throw from short stop Errol Robinson and stopped a potential game-tying run at the plate in the 7th inning with a perfect tag. The play stopped any momentum the Ragin Cajuns had, and when Josh Laxer came back in the 8th he was throwing nothing but gas.

Robinson's throw and Allen's tag helped to cinch the win.
