Before the day is done we will know the bowl destination for Ole Miss. As fun as it would be to go to Nashville's Music City Bowl, it really does look as though Birmingham's Compass Bowl is the most likely outcome. If it comes down to a choice between Mississippi State and Ole Miss for the Music City slot then I believe State's 8-4 record will prevail over Ole Miss' 6-6 finish, despite the Egg Bowl results. I do know the Music City Bowl would prefer Ole Miss, because State was in Nashville last year and the Rebels would sell more tickets. That said, State finished higher in the SEC and two games better overall than Ole Miss. In the end I think State goes to Nashville's higher slotted bowl and Ole Miss goes to Birmingham.
Whatever happens a bowl game is awesome as it was virtually unthinkable a few months back, and it's also fun we can even have this conversation the day after the SEC Championship game, isn't it?
