Ole Miss Stock is a Buy

There's more value in the SEC's television contract than just the millions paid from the television networks. The constant national exposure brought about by ESPN, CBS and the SEC Network is helping Ole Miss grow its brand. Success in the three major sports helps, too.
"Our licensing revenue is up 46 percent over last year, and we're not even through the fiscal year," Ole Miss athletics director Ross Bjork said in this Ole Miss Blog interview.

Most of the credit for that growth goes to football's success, but even baseball (a College World Series) and basketball (Stefan Moody and an NCAA appearance) have kept the Ole Miss brand in the spotlight.

But mostly the 46 percent growth just goes to show that Hugh Freeze is worth every penny. He is the face of Ole Miss. People like him, and they want to wear the hat. LINK

TIME TO MAKE NCAA TOURNAMENT MOVE
Despite its 18-18 record, Ole Miss is still a solid at-large candidate for the NCAA Tournament according to D1Baseball.com. That's thanks mostly to playing the toughest schedule in baseball and these two nuggets:

- Ole Miss is 5-4 against teams ranked No. 1.
- Ole Miss is 7-7 against teams in the Top 15

A .500 record looks a little better in that context.

But eventually a team needs more wins than losses to keep up appearances for the selection committee. The Rebels face UT Martin (10-23) today at 3 p.m. Sam Smith (1-4, 6.82 era) is scheduled to get the start. LINK

TREADWELL NO. 2
Sporting News says Laquon Treadwell is the 2nd best wide receiver in the country. That's no surprise really, but interestingly, the Sporting News also assumes Chad Kelly will be his quarterback. Apparently nobody told Ryan Buchanan or DeVante Kincade yet. LINK

ENCOURAGING WORD
Jesus loves failures.

"but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8 ESV)
