Winning streaks require play-makers to make game-winning plays. Ole Miss has gotten it done in every different way imaginable over the last six games. It seems like every player has contributed in some big way at some point. From Jarvis Summers to LaDarius White to Anthony Perez even. From top to bottom, the Rebels are finding ways to get it done. On Thursday night it was the last-second heroism of Stefan Moody that carried Ole Miss to victory.
Down by 61-59 with the final seconds ticking down, Moody took the ball at the top of the key, dribbled into tight defense, pulled up and fired a winner right over the head of a close Florida defender.
It may be warm in Florida, but there was ice running through Moody's veins.
Ole Miss has won six straight thanks Moody's Gator-killing 3-pointer, and the Rebels have swept Billy Donovan's Florida Gators for the first time ever.
The Rebels improved to 17-7 (8-3 SEC) and return to Oxford for a Saturday night showdown with Arkansas. Tied at 8-3 in the conference standings, the winner between the Rebels and the Razorbacks will be alone in 2nd place. Don't know about you, but I can't wait to find out which Ole Miss Rebel will be the next one to lead this team to victory.
Moody scored 18 points to lead Ole Miss. LaDarius White had 16, and Dwight Coleby contributed 11 points and 9 rebounds.
The Rebels will enjoy the SportsCenter limelight for the next 24 hours thanks to Moody's clutch shot, but there won't be time to enjoy much more.
Arkansas and Ole Miss take the floor at Tad Smith Coliseum in less than 48 hours.
Let's take another look at that Moody shot, shall we?
