Three Decembers ago he stood up there on that stage and said he'd traveled all around the world to get to one place and that was THE University of Mississippi. He said Ole Miss was home, that it was his dream job.
And what would he tell the players?
Freeze looked into the eyes of too many kids on the current roster and pleaded with them to make the leap of faith and come to Ole Miss to help the coach build something special. Freeze sold them on Family, and he would be the head of that Family.
How could Freeze up and leave, knowing that during his Ole Miss interview three years ago he looked Archie Manning and Mike Glenn in the eye and told them Ole Miss was where he wanted to be?
Manning and Glenn recommended Freeze for the position at least in part because they thought he would stay...longer than three years.
Freeze is a man of faith and integrity, and well, he just can't go, can he?
Then again, Manning, Glenn and even Freeze probably didn't consider that Freeze would have completely turned the then gosh-awful Ole Miss football program around in just three short years.
Freeze has already accomplished the mission of getting Ole Miss football back on solid footing. If he did leave Freeze could do so knowing he left Ole Miss in a good place, but could he do so with a clean conscience?
I don't think so.
But then again, I've never been offered the moon by Florida.
