Of those four Dayton appears to be the toughest. The Flyers are 8-2 and beat No. 15 Gonzaga in the Maui Invitational. It's Gonzaga's only loss thus far. Dayton also played No. 15 Baylor very, very close, losing 67-66.
Dayton will obviously be a tremendous test for Ole Miss, and would be a great resume-building non-conference win.
But first Louisiana-Monroe. The Warhawks are 3-2 with losses to Kansas and LSU. Hopefully, the game will be available on ESPN3.com for those of you like me who don't have Comcast, but I haven't found out yet. I'll let you know.
PRACTICE: The Rebels are busily preparing themselves for the Music City Bowl. Word is that All-SEC freshman tight end Evan Engram has a chance to play after missing the last few games with an injury. That would be fun to see. I know Bo Wallace would be glad to have him back.
DID YOU KNOW? It's crazy how people digest the internet now. Whereas just a few years ago you would have read this site on your desktop, today more than half of you read will read this on your mobile device, and a majority of those are iPhones. In fact, 39% of this site's readers access it with their iPhone.
WHAT'S ON: We watched Christmas Vacation with our two oldest kids Saturday night. They're in the 3rd grade and 2nd grade and our judgment in letting them watch it was surely questionable, but the movie is so much a part of the fabric of our Christmas. My wife and I have watched it every year for years and years, and shared so many laughs, and it's so funny, that we wanted to enjoy it with our kids after a hard Saturday of Christmas shopping instead of sending them to bed while we watched it alone. And though I'm sure they didn't get some of the humor they certainly did digest a lot of it. As I was turning out the lights in the house before bedtime I could hear them laughing about Uncle Lewis and Aunt Bethany and saying the pledge of allegiance to one another, followed by simultaneous giggles. It was fun.
Tis' the Season to be Merry.
