Four-Star Defensive End Puts Ole Miss in Top 10

by Jake Adams

Elijah Daniel committed to Ole Miss Sunday night. He's the latest prospect to do so in what turned out to be a big recruiting week for Hugh Freeze & Co. Five-star wide receiver Laquon Treadwell committed on Thursday. Memphis East linebacker Marcus Robinson also committed over the weekend.

Daniel (6' 3", 250 pounds) is rated as a four star prospect by Rivals and Scout, and as a five star by 247Sports. He's considered a Top 10 defensive end in the nation by all three services. Daniel chose Ole Miss over Mississippi State, Arizona State and Florida, among others.

The commitment pushed the Ole Miss class, as it stands now, up to No. 10 in the Rivals recruiting rankings.

The Rebels are still considered favorites for South Panola safety Tony Conner and of course Robert Nkemdiche, the consensus No. 1 player in the country. If those two commit to Ole Miss expect the class to jump even higher.

Nkemdiche and Conner aren't the only elite prospects still considering the Rebels.

What should be considered the "Super Ole Miss Recruiting Weekend" is coming up this weekend. Nkemdiche and many other highly regarded players will be in Oxford for their official visits. The excitement surrounding this class should continue to build.
AWAITING TOP 25 VOTE: The AP and ESPN Coaches Polls will be released later today and given Ole Miss' seven-game win streak, the dramatic road win against Vanderbilt and the dispatch of Arkansas on Saturday I'm expecting the Rebels to be ranked before the day is over. These are exciting times in Oxford. Speaking of exciting...
