High on the list of players I can't wait to see in a game is sophomore transfer wideout Damore'ea Stringfellow. At 6-2, 220 pounds, Stringfellow once drew comparisons to NFL receiver Donte Moncrief from Ole Miss strength coach Paul Jackson.
“Donte and Damore’ea both look like linebackers, they’re thick guys, but he’s a little harder than Donte,” Jackson told the Daily Journal a year ago. “In his jersey, he will look like Donte, but he is more muscled up than Donte. Damore’ea is a stud, he is the real deal. He is a big, physical kid. When you grab him, his traps and his upper back, he’s just a big kid.”
Hugh Freeze echoed those praises after Monday's practice.
Imagine an Ole Miss offense with two Laquon Treadwell's. Freeze clearly loves having a big, physical wide receiver to create matchup problems for opposing defenses. He loves it so much that he once called the receiver screen to Treadwell three consecutive times. The thought of having a guy the size of Treadwell on each side of the field must make Freeze literally lick his chops.
Stringfellow may not be Quon yet - few are - but it sounds like the physical potential is there. That potential is why Freeze has verbally challenged Stringfellow early, and the receiver has responded well so far. LINK
Stringfellow had three receptions for 98 yards, including a 66-yard TD haul, in the Grove Bowl.
As a true freshman at Washington, Stringfellow had 20 catches for 259 yards and a touchdown. He transferred to Ole Miss last summer and sat out 2014 due to NCAA transfer rules.
