Ole Miss Wins Wright St. Series

Ole Miss split Sunday's double-header to claim a 2-1 edge over Wright State in a cold weekend series in Oxford.

The Rebels lost the first game 3-1 despite a fantastic effort from starting pitcher Brady Bramlett, who allowed just one hit and one walk, while striking out a career-high 11 hitters in six innings. Bramlett is the first Rebel to record double digit strikeouts since Bobby Wahl struck out 10 batters, March 9, 2012.

Ole Miss won the 2nd game 3-2 on timely hits from freshman 2nd baseman Tate Blackman and shortstop Errol Robinson and winning relief performance from Wyatt Short, who worked a career-long 3.1 scoreless innings, scattering three hits with a walk and four strikeouts. In his appearance out of the bullpen, Short was able to get the Rebels out of two bases-loaded jams.

Ole Miss improved to 4-2 on the season.

The Rebels continue an 8-game, season-opening homestand with a pair of midweek contests against Arkansas State on Tuesday (3 p.m. CT, SEC Network+) and Central Arkansas on Wednesday, Feb. 25 (4 p.m. CT, SEC Network+), before hitting the road for the first time this season for a 3-game weekend series at UCF.

After two straight weeks of frigid February baseball you can bet the Rebels are ready to board that plan to Florida.
