Ole Miss 9, William & Mary 4

Ole Miss is 1-0!

Freshman Kyle Watson was 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles, including an 2-run hit in the 8th inning that extended a 5-4 lead.

Christian Trent, still undefeated as an Ole Miss pitcher after finishing 2014 9-0, gave up one run in 5.0 innings to pick up the win, but William & Mary rallied in the seventh and had the would-be game-tying run in scoring position. It was close. Too close.

Enter Scott Weathersby.

The senior captain picked up where he left off last season, pitching the Rebels out of the jam on the way to working a perfect 2.2 innings of relief with two strikeouts to finish off the Tribe.
Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco said in the post-game show that calling Weathersby's pitches was like playing a video game. He put the ball wherever Bianco wanted it.

BOX SCORE

Ole Miss plays a double-header against William & Mary on Saturday after Sunday's game was moved up a day to avoid frigid cold temps. The 1st game starts at noon.
