Ole Miss 55, Georgia 52

If there was any doubt before, you can put it to rest now. Head coach Matt Insell has the Ole Miss women's basketball team on the way up.

The Rebels beat their first AP ranked team since 2011 with a 55-52 win over No. 18 Georgia, snapping a 24-game losing streak to AP ranked opponents in the process.

Ole Miss improved to 14-4 (4-1 SEC). Georgia fell to 15-3 (3-2).

The Rebels are off to their best start since the 2006-2007 season.

With many of the women's games available to watch on TV or WatchESPN now, Insell is producing a product worth tuning in to see. I'd be lying if I said I watch every women's basketball game, but after seeing the last four minutes of this win, I'm thinking of watching more myself. The Rebels finished the game on an 8-0 run to get the win, and it was an exciting finish.

My 10-year-old daughter, who watched the game with me and was cuddled up beside me as I began writing this post, said, "Daddy, you never write about girls basketball."

"Well, I think I might start," I said.

"Good," she replied. This same daugher recently started playing organized basketball for the first time. In fact, Santa got her and her sisters a basketball goal for Christmas.

We shoot hoops together in the driveway now. She likes basketball.

So when she said that, I realized...yeah, maybe I will start writing about Ole Miss women's basketball. Why wouldn't I?

Regardless, Thursday night's game was fun basketball no matter the gender.

Watch the highlights. Gracie Frizzell, who broke the Ole Miss record for 3-pointers in a game last weekend, shot two more 3's in this game, one of which was way, way behind the arc. You'll enjoy.
