The Definition of Unbelievable

Cars fly. Martians exist. Mermaids are real. Invisibility cream is a real thing. And Ole Miss and Mississippi State are tied for 3rd in the latest AP Poll following big wins over Alabama and Texas A&M, respectively.

Only that last thing is true, but it feels about as real as everything else on that list.

Have you ever in your wildest dreams thought Ole Miss would be considered the 3rd best team in the country? And if so, when you had that dream did you also fantasize that the Rebels would be tied with Mississippi State? (Also, you have some crazy dreams.)

Since when do schools in the Top 5 get locked in a tie anyway? Only Ole Miss and Mississippi State...

The Rebels and the Bulldogs are currently national favorites to make the 1st ever College Football Playoff.

If unbelievable had a definition this would be it.

But it's real, and it's happening, and....wow!

How long can this Magnolia State nirvana last?

Ole Miss plays at Texas A&M on Saturday. If the Rebels can beat Alabama they're certainly capable of taking down the Aggies. Kenny Hill isn't as elusive or good under pressure as former LandShark slayer Johnny Manziel. The Rebels are better on defense than they've ever been, and Dr. Bo Wallace will throw his surgical scalpels through the heart of the Aggies with ease. Ole Miss should be 6-0 a week from now.

Mississippi State hosts No. 2 Auburn. What a game that will be. The Bulldogs are so good up front defensively that the Tigers will struggle to run the football. Forced to throw, I could see Nick Marshall fold under the pressure. It will be a ferocious battle, but State is certainly capable of pulling this off.

If both of the above come to fruition Ole Miss will live to face East Division weakling Tennessee while State is open on the 18th. That same week Florida State hosts 6th ranked Notre Dame, a game the Seminoles could quite easily lose.

If so, in two short weeks it's very possible that Ole Miss and Mississippi State will be No. 1 and No. 2. I'll let you pick the order.

You might as well.

Santa Claus is real, and his 1st cousin is the Easter Bunny.
