The SEC This Weekend

One look at this week's SEC schedule, and you may wonder whether the conference athletics directors colluded to create an acceptable Saturday during football season to hold a wedding. It's a yawner. The only conference game on the slate is Ole Miss vs. Vanderbilt. Eleven other schools scheduled cream puffs and Georgia has an open date.

This should be a good chance for me to get my confidence back up after getting absolutely shelled last weekend (3-5). After Week 1, I am to SEC Pick 'Em what Vanderbilt is to SEC Football, but just like Derek Mason probably told his team, it's a 12 game season. We've got 11 more to play. You can't quit now.

Okay, coach. Put me back in....

Florida Atlantic at Alabama (11 a.m., SEC Network)
Nebraska beat the FAU Owls 55-7 last week. Enough said. Nick Saban will use this game to get a look at both of his quarterbacks, and to correct some of the defensive issues exposed by West Virginia. The Tide will Roll.

Arkansas State at Tennessee (11 a.m., SEC Network (Alternate Channel))
The Vols turned some heads in their dismantling of Utah State a week ago. There's no reason the early sucess for Butch Jones' club shouldn't continue. Vols win in a land slide.

Missouri at Toledo (11 a.m. ESPN)
Mizzou didn't exactly blow the doors off South Dakota State last weekend. Toledo should be a tougher team, and it's at their place, but the Tigers are only favored by 3.5, so I'll take Mizzou.

UAB at Mississippi State (1 p.m., Fox Sports Net)
The Bulldogs are favored by 28 points, but Dak Prescott may be hurt. Mullen says Prescott will play, but even if he's only a little hurt, how much will Mullen let Prescott play if the game is in hand? This spread makes me nervous, but I'll stick the the Bulldogs.

Ohio at Kentucky (2:30, ESPNU)
Ohio struggled to beat Kent State last week. For that reason alone, I'll take the Wildcats by 12.5.

Eastern Michigan at Florida (3 p.m., SEC Network)
The Gators haven't played a game yet, but they're still favored by 38 points. Eastern Mich. finished 2-10 in 2013 and got blown out a lot. I'm picking the Gators.

Nicholls at Arkansas (3 p.m., SEC Network (Alternate Channel))
Arkansas will run for 600 yards in this game.

Ole Miss at Vanderbilt (3:30, ESPN)
Vanderbilt is struggling offensively, and doesn't have a quarterback. It's hard to believe the Commodores will get right against the Ole Miss defense. I'll take the Rebs by 20.

East Carolina at South Carolina (6 p.m., ESPNU)
South Carolina was humbled last week by Texas A&M. I think the Gamecocks will take their frustrations out on East Carolina and win big.

San Jose State at Auburn (6 p.m., ESPN2)
Nick Marshall didn't get to play as much as he'd like against Arkansas. He'll make up for lost time against San Jose State, and the Tigers will win by a large margin. I picked the Tigers by 32.5.

Sam Houston State at LSU (6:30, SEC Network)
Maybe this will be the week that Leonard Fournette looks like the Michael Jordan of football.

Lamar at Texas A&M (6:30 p.m., SEC Network (Alternate Channel))
Kenny Trill!
