Stringfellow's Eligibility Would be Huge

Ole Miss is still waiting to hear from the NCAA as to whether wide receiver Damore'ea Stringfellow and offensive lineman Christian Morris will be forced to sit out this season per transfer rules. The Rebels applied for waivers for both players.

Bo Wallace and Hugh Freeze told reporters yesterday that an eligible Stringfellow, who played his freshman year at Washington, would be a game-changer.

As a freshman for the Huskies in 2013, Stringfellow caught 20 passes for 259 yards and one touchdown, averaging 13 yards per reception. At 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, Stringfellow closely resembles Laquon Treadwell in stature.

Strength coach Paul Jackson says Stringfellow compares favorably to NFL receiver Donte Moncrief.

“Donte and Damore’ea both look like linebackers, they’re thick guys, but he’s a little harder than Donte,” Jackson said. “In his jersey, he will look like Donte, but he is more muscled up than Donte. Damore’ea is a stud, he is the real deal. He is a big, physical kid. When you grab him, his traps and his upper back, he’s just a big kid.”

“He only got here in summer two, but the improvements he made in four weeks, unreal,” Jackson said. “When you get those type of kids, the special ones, and it only takes a month and they’re in great shape, that’s just God given. That’s recruiting there.”

Imagine the tandem of Treadwell and Moncrief on the field together again. It won't happen, but Stringfellow would be the closest possible thing, and that's got Freeze and Wallace sending all their positive thoughts to NCAA Headquarters this week.
