| Wear an Ole Miss polo and change the world. |
After 20 minutes of marveling at the selection of Ole Miss gear I finally picked my favorite five Ole Miss polo's, paid the lady at the counter a large amount of cash and headed home.
My polo collection at home had gotten old and dingy. It was time for an upgrade. When I got home it was out with the old and in with the new. Now I'm wearing Ole Miss polo's at least three days a week.
My wife thinks I went temporarily insane. I think I made a rational wardrobe decision.
I wear Ole Miss polo's nearly every day. Here's why you should, too:
1. They're stylish. Nike, Under Armour, Ping, Columbia...you favorite brands, all make great Ole Miss shirts. I bought three Antiguas (they look and feel like Nike for half the price and I'm cheap) and two Nike (on sale!).
2. They're comfortable. Walking outside in Mississippi in the summertime is like walking in a hot bathtub. In weather like that cotton is your enemy. If you have to wear clothes you need to wear something light, breathable and that doesn't soak up moisture. Ole Miss polo's have you covered.
3. They have an Ole Miss logo on them. Why would you want a pretentious little guy riding a horse playing a game that only absurdly rich people play on your chest when you could have an Ole Miss logo there instead?
4. It tells everybody where you stand. Because the world needs to know you're not a Bulldog or a Tiger or whatever else.
5. You're supporting Ole Miss financially. Those trademark dollars the clothing companies pay eventually find their way back to Ole Miss, and then Ole Miss builds bigger and better stuff, wows more recruits, and gets better at football and basketball. Bam! And all you had to do was buy a shirt.
6. You help build the Ole Miss brand. That's right, when you wear your good-looking Ole Miss polo to work you're a walking advertisement for Ole Miss. Wear it well, men. Wear it well.
7. The best colors. Fortunately, Ole Miss is blessed with two of the best school colors available. Red and Navy. There's nothing more classic than navy or more beautiful than a deep red. Plus, navy and red match almost anything. Jeans, khakis, or anything else. You don't have to waste time worrying about whether your Ole Miss polo matches your pants. For many of us that's a welcome relief.
8. Hugh Freeze and Ross Bjork wear them. Who doesn't want to walk around looking like Hugh Freeze or Ross Bjork? Not me. I want to be in their club.
9. When you wear an Ole Miss polo you look like you may be doing something way more cool than just going to work. But you still look work-appropriate. Most of us wish we looked like we were going somewhere other than work, don't we?
10. Conversation starter. If you're wearing an Ole Miss polo you will engage in conversation about Ole Miss football at some point during the day, which is way, way better than talking about the weather or politics. Am I right? The guy at the checkout counter will ask how the Rebels are going to do next year. A business meeting will turn into a football discussion. If sports is the best conversation starter in the universe, then Ole Miss sports is the alpha and omega of conversation in Mississippi. You might even make a new friend.
