First-year Pitt head coach Paul Chryst is thought to be the leading candidate to replace Brett Bielema at Wisconsin. Chryst served an offensive coordinator at Wisconsin and orchestrated a prolific offense for the Badgers, including helping them to two straight Rose Bowl appearances, before taking the head job for the Panthers last year. Ole Miss is scheduled to play Pitt in the BBVA Compass Bowl on January 5. If Pitt is forced to go with an interim coach, that could definitely play a factor in the bowl game.
