Hawaii was starting to look like a nightmare trip for Ole Miss when it trailed San Francisco 32-19 in the 1st half thanks to a 60-percent shooting percentage by the Dons, but the Rebels weathered the storm and took the lead in the 2nd half before going on to win it 85-78.
Ole Miss won it with free throws and a dominant performance by senior big Murphy Holloway, who had 23 points and 13 rebounds. As a team Ole Miss was 24 of 30 from the free throw line to San Francisco's 15 of 19. Marshall Henderson and Jarvis Summers were a perfect 13 of 13 at the line.
The Rebels improved to a 9-2 with the win in the consolation bracket of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic.
Holloway's 23 points were scored from shooting 5 of 7 from the free throw line and 9-for-15 from the field. It was his 6th double-double of the season.
Nick Williams also had a good game. He shot 4-for-6 from the 3-point line and finished with 18 points. As a team Ole Miss was 9 of 19 from 3-point range.
San Francisco has lost five straight. The Rebels will face Hawaii in the 5th place game on Christmas Day at 3:30 (ESPNU).
