Bowl Pick 'Em and Ole Miss Tweet of the Day

I picked today's Ole Miss Tweet of the Day early this morning when Hugh Freeze's daily inspirational tweet popped up on my iPhone. It's not so much what Freeze wrote, but who he quoted that got my attention.

I don't mind saying that I was watching VHS tapes of the Duckmen back in the late 1990's. It's one of the only cool things I ever got in on near the beginning. Usually, I'm the last to pick up on a cool trend. But we wore out those VHS tapes of the Duckmen in my college days. Probably because we never saw ducks like than on our hunts. Duck hunters spend a lot of time dreaming about hunts the Duckmen had on video. I worshipped the Duckmen.

A couple years later, in my days as a young editor at Outdoor Life Magazine (around the year 2000), I proposed a cover story on the Duckmen and after several long, awkward minutes spent convincing my New York boss that dipping and spitting was a badge of honor to many of our readers, got the green light from the editor-in-chief to write a feature story. I ran back to my cubicle and immediately called Phil Robertson, told him I was an editor from Outdoor Life and wanted to fly to Louisiana and go on a few hunts with him and try to get him on the cover of the magazine. There was a long pause, and I can still remember Phil's words back:

"Ok. Might be a good thing to get a little publicity..."

We planned to get back in touch and plan the hunts closer to the beginning of duck season. That was in the spring. A month or two later I decided to go to law school. My story idea died along with my editorial career. What could have been?!! Anyway, back to the Tweet:
